Engagement Session: Parissa and Kevin

Introducing Parissa & Kevin!

I had the pleasure of getting to know P & K only recently at their engagement party here in SF. A smashing group of their closest friends put together a beautiful celebration with champagne, fine meats & cheeses, and even custom embossed napkins! Their names in bright, shiny gold atop a dark red – yes please! Talk about attention to detail – the host, also an interior designer – had everything planned & executed perfectly! Take a look:

Shortly after Parissa & Kevin arrived I asked if I could borrow her ring for detail shots. The results were beyond my expectations – buckets of roses all around, orange trees, and avant-garde free form art around the home made for unique & romantic props. Once I gave her back her dazzling ring we strolled to the backyard away from the guests for some portraits at sunset:

These two shine with happiness & joy for each other – it’s clear that they’ve found their match. Parissa teaches & studies Iberian Literature and Kevin loves to surf. When asked to fill out their “Once Upon A Time” Questionnaire (a requirement for all my wedding clients) Parissa told me that there was strong possibility that Pablo Neruda love poems would be read at their ceremony in December!! Neruda’s writing will lift your spirits & awaken your soul – – if you’ve never heard of this brilliant romantic/extraordinary man before please look him up.

I look forward to shooting their wedding this winter here in San Francisco & sharing with you many more memories of Parissa & Kevin soon. For now, I leave you with this:

The Queen by Pablo Neruda

I have named you queen.
There are taller ones than you, taller.
There are purer ones than you, purer.
There are lovelier than you, lovelier.

But you are the queen.

When you go through the streets
no one recognizes you.
No one sees your crystal crown, no one looks
as the carpet of red gold
that you tread as you pass,
the nonexistent carpet.

And when you appear
all the rivers sound
in my body, bells
shake the sky,
and a hymn fills the world.

Only you and I,
only you and I, my love,
listen to it.

Listen to your heart – fall in love & enjoy the weekend everyone!
